The idea of this project was inspired by the presently prevailing CCTV surveillance system in existence. Their inefficiency in terms of the capital being invested in the same was the main cause of our interest in developing a better and efficient model of the traffic system.
Most of us are caught up in traffic jams across large lengths of roads, especially during very high rush times. Certain times (especially at metro-cities), we have to wait in a single traffic light for 3-4 cycles completely. We have tried to revamp the presently prevailing traffic surveillance system to design a model which takes input as real-time data from CCTV surveillance and thereby deciphers data from the same; deploys its use in changing the total green-time and red-time of the fixed time cycle time. We have also included a clause to ensure that a minimum of 20% of the timer time is given to each side irrespective of the fact that lesser traffic might be present on that side.
